Career
Prior to his professional career, Li Yan played in the main tour tournaments: he repeatedly received a wild card for home competitions such as the Shanghai Masters or China Open . At the Shanghai Masters 2009, Li Yan reached the 1/16 final (in the wild card round he defeated Gerard Green with a score of 5: 4, and then lost to Ryan Day , 3: 5).
In 2011, the Chinese player became one of the winners of the 2nd stage of the Q School qualifying tournament (in the course of the tournament he beat David Gray and Cyrene Wilson ). Thus, Lee received the status of a professional and moved to the main tour for the 2011/12 season .
