Francisco Goya 's artistic career began in 1771 . The first work of the young artist was a fresco for the cathedral - the Basilica of the Virgin del Pilar in Zaragoza . The last work of the master - the painting " Thrush from Bordeaux ", created in 1827 . For more than half a century, his creative life, Goya has painted about 700 paintings, 280 etchings and about a thousand drawings and tapestries .
Francisco Goya is a recognized master of the Rococo art style, he was a court painter of the Spanish kings Charles IV and Ferdinand VII . Goya's creativity is characterized by a variety of genres , such as portraits , still lifes , canvases on historical and religious themes, genre painting ( hunting , scenes from the life of nobles and commoners, vices of society, violence, witches and demons ). Goya is the author of the series of frescoes “ Gloomy paintings ”.
The largest collection of works by Francisco Goya is in the Prado Museum in Madrid . All the most famous works of the master can be seen there. Goya’s paintings, mainly portraits, are presented in many other famous museums of the world: the National Gallery in London , the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York , the Uffizi Gallery in Florence , the Old Pinakothek in Munich and others.
