History
On January 28, 1961, Pope John XXIII issued the bull In apostolicis , which established the Diocese of Iguatu, separating it from the Archdiocese of Fortaleza and the Diocese of Kratu .
On September 28, 1963, the diocese of Iguatu transferred part of its territory for the construction of the new diocese of Kratheus .
