Content

Geography

The city is located on the left bank of the Pyaku-pur river, 200 kilometers from the Arctic Circle in the north-eastern part of the West Siberian Plain , in the forest-tundra zone. At 16 km from the city is the Purpe railway station on the Ekaterinburg - Surgut - Novy Urengoy line .

History

It was founded on April 22, 1986. Named in honor of the Soviet geologist Ivan Mikhailovich Gubkin .

In 1996, Gubkinsky received the status of a city of district significance.

Status and local government

The city as an administrative-territorial unit of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug has the status of a city ​​of district significance [2] . Economy

Gubkinsky emerged as a base center in connection with the industrial development of the group of the northernmost oil and gas fields in Western Siberia , promising in terms of hydrocarbon reserves, characterized by unique properties. The main industry is oil and gas. The most promising enterprise in the Rosneft system is located in Gubkinsky - LLC RN-Purneftegaz.

The gas industry is represented by the Komsomolskoye gas field, OOO Gazprom dobycha Noyabrsk, which was put into commercial operation in 1993. With the introduction in 1999 of the Gubkinsky gas field of CJSC Purgaz in the municipal entity City of Gubkinsky, the gas production industry was further developed. Processing and drying of associated petroleum gas, production of gas gasoline is carried out by a branch of SiburTyumenGaz OJSC ( Gubkinsky gas processing plant ).
