EPC-3 - a specialized electric chain saw of increased frequency (400Hz).
The EPCH-3 chain saw was created in the early 1960s as a replacement for the EP-K6 electric saw. Unlike the previous model, the EPC-3 is not designed for felling trees and is designed specifically for bucking.
At the moment, a modification of the electric saw with the model number EPC-3.0-2 is being produced.

History
Before the creation of the Druzhba chainsaw, the Soviet forest industry used mainly chain saws with an electric motor drive. These were mainly electric saws of increased frequency (200Hz) EP-K5 and EP-K6. The saws were controlled by one person and were intended both for felling and for bucking.
In the 1960s, Druzhba chainsaws began to displace electric saws from the cutting area , which served as an impetus for the creation of an electric saw designed exclusively for cutting.
Prototypes were created in 1964. Serial production began in 1970.
Over the years, the design of the saw has not undergone major changes and can be considered the most long-lived model of a chain saw .
Usage
The EPCh-3 electric saw is a specialized electric saw and is intended for transverse sawing of logs in a cutting area, warehouses and construction sites.
Saw power is supplied from specialized electric generators or from a conventional power supply network, through a frequency converter.
Production
In the USSR, the EPC-3 electric saw was produced by the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant . The number of manufactured saws reached 30 thousand per year.
In the 1990s, in connection with the change of felling technology from whiplash to assorted, EPC-3 became less popular. Its production at the plant was discontinued.
At the moment, the saw is produced by a private manufacturer in an amount of less than 1000 pieces per year.
