Circumstances of a Crash
55 minutes after take-off, at an altitude of 8,000 meters, during the flight the plane lost power. It is believed that this was due to a collision with a military training aircraft, lost from the course during the night flight. This led to a blackout and failure of the course system, both artificial horizons and autopilot. The crew was disoriented. After several maneuvers with an incline, the plane lost control and collapsed at an angle of 35º onto a snow-covered field 200 meters from the village of Verkhnyaya Khava of the Voronezh Region . The flight took place at night above the clouds, making it impossible to detect the horizon visually. According to the official version, when preparing for take-off, the crew violated the switch-on of artificial horizons. After the failure of a part of the instruments, the crew did not use the possibility of piloting the machine using other instruments. However, colleagues of the victims strongly doubt that such an experienced crew could make such mistakes.
