Biography
Andrew Niccol was born in the city of Paraparaumu ( New Zealand ), studied at Auckland Gymnasium . At the age of 21, he left for London , where he shot television commercials for more than ten years, then moved to Los Angeles , where he made his film debut with the movie “ Gattaka ”. The film received high marks from film critics and many awards at film festivals. But even before that, the famous producer Scott Rudin became interested in the movie script written by Niccol. The film under this scenario, entitled The Truman Show , was shot by Australian director Peter Weir in 1998 and also received many awards and nominations, including nominations for the Oscars and Golden Globes .
On the set of Simone , Andrew Niccol met the Canadian model Rachel Roberts , who later became his wife and gave birth to two children: son Jack (2003) and daughter Avu Lilu Rey (2008). Also, Niccol has a daughter Mia (born 2000) from a previous marriage.
