History

Album

The album "On the Horizon" is preceded by 3 more demo albums, which were recorded back in Ulan-Ude . The third demo album “The Right of the Strong” (2006) included the songs “Leave”, “Autumn”, “Height”, “New Day”, “Nothing to Lose”, “Take Your Freedom”, which were later included in the debut album "On the horizon."

The group’s activities in Ulan-Ude continued until guitarist Denis Burlakov and keyboardist Dmitry Mashkov went to study in Moscow. Here, "Arctida" was joined by bass player Valery Zolotayev and drummer Alexander Ovchinnikov. [2] The first rehearsal in Moscow took place in the fall of 2006. A little later, in November, the ranks of the group were joined by vocalist Konstantin Savchenko (Vladimir Lebedev performed on the demo albums of the song). Konstantin was also a composer. Thanks to him, the ballad “Big Water”, the song “On the Horizon”, which became the title for the debut full-length album, as well as the song “Sea of Vodka” appeared in the group’s repertoire.

On October 8, 2008, Arktida saw the light of the album “On the Horizon”, which included 17 tracks (including the Russian version of the song “The Chosen ones” by Dream Evil . [3] The album was released on the Metalism Records label). On October 22, 2008, the Tochka Club hosted the presentation of the album. [four]

After the release of the album, the group actively concertized and simultaneously prepared materials for the new album.

Clip

In March 2009, the group began work on their debut video. The film crew was “May Production”, they were given to listen to the songs “Take Your Freedom”, “On the Horizon”, “Big Water”, “Sea of Vodka”, “Autumn” and “New Day”, as a result the title track was chosen album. It is worth noting that the composition “On the Horizon” was re-recorded and re-recorded. [five]

After that, director Andrei Kharzeev began writing the script, and keyboardist Dmitry Mashkov and producer of the video, Maria Zalutskaya, looked for a place to shoot. Separately, it is worth mentioning about chains and shackles: they were ordered from a professional blacksmith, so that the shackles in the clip were not fake, but real. After a month of torment, in early May 2009, the script and estimate were nevertheless brought to mind and approved, it only remained to find a place for filming. They became an airplane hangar in the north of Moscow.

In June 2009, the video was shot, after which the editing continued for another three months. But the proposed versions still did not fit, it was decided to look for a new editor. As a result, the musicians met with Nikita Deiny. He finally was able to bring to mind the material and complement the captured computer graphics. [6]

The debut video “On the Horizon” was released on February 1, 2010, and was launched into the rotation of several television channels: O2TV , 1Rock , Tricolor TV , Muz-TV . [2]

According to the directors, the concept of the clip reflects the desire to break out of the frame, get away from stereotypes, overcoming all life's barriers and moving in the quest for the best. This applies to everyone. “There was no strength, but he went further, to bright hope, away from the shackles,” - this is how the words of the refrain sound, sparking optimism and love of life. In the plot of the clip, the musicians of "Arktis" play, shackled in real shackles, and do not stop playing even under the pressure of bullets.
