HMS Sultan (1775) is a 74-gun battleship of the 3rd rank of the Royal Navy , the second ship of His Majesty, named Sultan ( Sultan ).

Ordered on January 14, 1771 . Launched on December 23, 1775 at the Barnard private shipyard in Harwich. [one]
Participated in the American Revolutionary War.
1779 - Captain Alan Gardner ( born Alan Gardner ), was at Grenada .
1782 - 1783 - participated in the East India campaign. He was in all major battles ( Sadras , Providien , Negapatam , Trincomalee , Cuddalor ).
1784 - Captain Thomas Trubridge ; returned from the East Indies with the squadron of Vice Admiral Hughes .
1797 - turned into a floating prison . Renamed to HMS Suffolk in 1805 .
Sent for scrap and disassembled in 1816 . [one]
