Venue

Since 1987, the America's Cup has been alternately held in 10 countries of South America that are part of CONMEBOL . In view of this, the America's Cup 2015 was due to be held in Brazil , the country that hosted the tournament for the last time in 1989 . However, Brazil refused to host the competition due to the fact that within 4 years the country will host three world-class sporting events: Confederations Cup 2013 , the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics . The then president of the country, Lula, discussed with the former president of Chile the possibility of exchanging the championships of 2015 and 2019 [1] , which was planned to be held in the homeland of the “ red team ”.

CONMEBOL President Nicholas Leos suggested holding a tournament in Mexico , despite the fact that the country is not a member of the South American Confederation [2] . The President of Bolivia , Evo Morales , also expressed interest in holding a tournament in his country [3] .

In February 2011, the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that the 2015 America's Cup will be held in Brazil [4] . However, in March 2012, during a meeting between the head of the Football Federation of Chile and the new president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, it was decided to change the venue of the 2015 America's Cup from Brazil to Chile [5] . In turn, Brazil will hold the tournament in 2019 [6] .

Rewards

The Chilean Football Association , whose national team was a triumph for the championship, received the America’s Cup and a smaller copy of it. The winning team of the Chilean national team was awarded 30 gold medals, the Argentinean national team - 30 silver medals. The teams that took 3rd and 4th place were awarded 30 bronze and 30 copper medals, respectively. And also all associations whose teams took part in the America's Cup 2015 received diplomas certifying their participation in the tournament. American Cup ownership is temporary because it must be returned to the Confederation of South American Football before the draw for the next America's Cup.

Chilean Arturo Vidal was recognized as the best player of the final, he played in all 6 matches and scored 3 goals.

The best young player of the America's Cup was the Colombian Jason Murillo , speaking in the position of defender; he played in the tournament in all 4 matches. His team conceded only 1 goal into their own goal, becoming the best in this indicator, and Murillo himself scored against Brazil .

The title of best goalkeeper of the tournament was awarded to Chilean Claudio Bravo , who helped Chile in the penalty shootout in the final.

The top scorers in the America's Cup 2015 were Eduardo Vargas and Jose Paolo Guerrero , who scored 4 goals. Vargas is the sixth Chilean who has become the top scorer of this tournament. Jose became the top scorer for the second time (last time - in 2011), than he repeated the achievements of Pedro Petrone , Angel Romano , Erminio Masantonio and Gabriel Batistuta .

Peru also received the Fair Play prize. Only semi-finalists of the tournament could apply for this award.

Symbols

Talisman

The official mascot of the tournament - the Andean fox Zincha - was presented on November 17, 2014 [13] . The name Zincha consisted of two words: zorro, which translates from Spanish as “fox”, and hincha, which from Spanish translates as “fan”. The reason for choosing this particular animal is that it lives only in South America. The name of the fox was chosen by SMS voting; other options were Andy and Cool [14] .

Song

The official song of the tournament was “Al Sur del Mundo” performed by the Chilean group “Noche de Brujas” [15] . The group performed it at the opening ceremony of the championship.
