History
On December 16, 1944, Pope Pius XII issued the bull Ad Dominici gregis bonum , which he established the diocese of Parnaiba, separating it from the diocese of Piaui (today - the Archdiocese of Teresina ).
On June 12, 1975, the diocese of Parnaiba transferred part of its territory in favor of the construction of the new diocese of Campo Major .
