In 1987, after negotiations between the head of the Odessa “ Chernomorets ” and Valery Lobanovsky, he moved to the Odessa “ Chernomorets ”, who played in the first league . In addition, the choice was influenced by the desire of Protsyuk to go away from the Chernobyl accident: he was worried about the health of his wife and daughter [1] .

In the 1990 season, he also became a bronze medalist.
In May 1991, Sergei, wanting to play, went to Tiligul . Together with the team he won the right to play in the major league. But in early 1992, it was decided not to hold the combined CIS championship and Protsyuk returned to Chernomorets. For the first two seasons in the championship of Ukraine he spent 26 matches, becoming in 1993 a bronze medalist.
In 1994, Protsyuk played for Metallurg from Novotroitsk .
After that Sergey from 1994 to 1999 played for the clubs of the lower divisions - Veres , Finnish KaIK , Bukovina and Neftyanik from Akhtyrka .
