Glossa is a poem written on the theme of a verse passage placed in an epigraph , and each verse of this passage (usually called “motto”) is woven into the corresponding stanza : at the end of the first stanza, its first verse is repeated, at the end of the second - second, etc. Glossa is usually written in a specific stanza - decima , with the rhyme ABBAACCDDC. It was distributed in Spanish poetry , in German it was cultivated by the Schlegel brothers. Glossa with some deviations from the canonical form is called " variation ". An example of the construction of glosses is available in the XVIII chapter of the 2nd part of Don Quixote by Cervantes .
