Rita Levonovna Pogosova (born December 6, 1948 , Baku , Azerbaijan SSR ) - Soviet athlete, eight-time USSR champion in singles (1969), doubles (1968–1970) and mixed doubles (1967, 1968, 1970, 1975), European champion (1970) and world champion (1969) in team table tennis competitions. Biography

Rita Pogosova was born on December 6, 1948 in Baku. She began to play table tennis at the age of 10 under the leadership of Ruslan Kotsev. Member of the national team of the USSR since 1966 . The most successful in the career of Rita Pogosova was 1969 , when she was the USSR champion in singles and doubles, and also won the title of world champion in the USSR national team in team competitions. This success at the world championships in Munich went down in the history of Soviet table tennis as the first and only victory of the USSR national team (both women and men) at the team world championships. In 1970, at the European Championships in Moscow, Rita Pogosova won medals of all virtues: gold in team competitions, silver in mixed doubles and bronze in singles.

In 1971 she moved to Yerevan , where Yuri Gazaryan became her coach. In 1976, after the birth of her son, she completed her career. From 1978 to 1990, she was engaged in coaching in the sports society "Spartak" . In 2001 - 2007 she was a playing coach in the university team of the Italian city of Messina . Since 2007, Rita Pogosova has been working as a children's coach in the sports club of the city of Binasco [2] [3] .
