Biography
Infinity of rivers and mountains (강산 무진 도)
He was a court artist of the Korean royal court. He painted mainly landscapes. In addition to the title of court painter, he also held a major military post at the court. His best-known work is silk painting called The Infinity of Rivers and Mountains (강산 무진 도) , which is now kept at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul . In 1968, the famous American composer Alan Hovaness , who visited Korea in 1963, being impressed by this canvas, wrote a chamber symphony called Mountains and Rivers Without End .
