Mena ( Ukrainian Mena ) is a river in Ukraine, the right tributary of the Desna ( Dnieper basin).

It originates in the village of Shchokot, Snovsky district . It flows from north to south along the territory of the Koryukovsky and Mensky districts of the Chernihiv region . On the river is the administrative center of the Mensky district - the city of Mena . Length - 70 km, average depth - 1.5-2 meters. The greatest depth is 5 meters. Width - 5-10 meters. The pool area is 775 km². Falls into the Desna . Inflows: the rivers Koroska, Kuta, Ostrich, Sivuha, Udodka, Sidorovka, Babka, Irzhavets, Diagova, Konotop. The name comes from the Baltic men ~ kas ("small, weak"). [one]
The river has artificial regulation with the help of 7 gateways. Until the 1960s, it was shipping. From the pier in the city of Mena there was regular water communication with Chernigov. In the 18-19 centuries. the river was an important shipping route and had a width of 25-50 m and an average depth of 8-14 m.
Fish that are found: rudd, roach, perch, crucian carp, tench, pike, gudgeon, mustard, roach, a small amount of common carp, goose bream, ide, bleak, asp, ruff, rotan.
Mammals: black rat and gray rat, muskrat, in a small amount - beaver, muskrat, mink, otter.
Birds: gray heron, bittern, snipe, hollow, woodcock, curlew, chicken, derkach, wading sandpiper, wild ducks, storks.
Amphibians: common and aquatic, pond frog, Far Eastern python acclimatized.
