Volleyball started in Leningrad . He played for the team: 1975-1983 - Avtomobilist ( Leningrad ), 1983-1989 - Dynamo (Leningrad). Seven-time silver medalist of the USSR championships (1976-1982), bronze medalist of the USSR championship in 1975, two-time winner of the Cup of European Cup Winners (1981, 1982). Silver medalist of the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR 1975 in the national team of Leningrad .
In the USSR national team in official competitions he performed in 1979-1981. It includes: winner of the 1981 World Cup , two - time European champion ( 1979 , 1981 ).
Since 1989, he played in Sweden for the Kungelv team. Three - time champion of Sweden (1990-1993). The best player of the championship of Sweden 1996/1997.
