Biography
Edmund Gilbert Baker was born on February 8, 1864 in Sirsk [1] . He was the son of the botanist John Gilbert Baker (1834-1920). Baker was educated at the College of Pharmacy in London. He was an employee of the British Museum, first as an assistant, then as a caretaker. During the expedition of Wollaston to the Netherlands New Guinea (1912-1913), Baker published data on botany [2] . He died in 1949.
