Hot water music

Hot Water Music is a punk rock band from Gainesville , Florida , formed in 1993. The group includes Chuck Ragan (vocals, guitar), Chris Vollard (vocals, guitar), Jason Black (bass), George Rebelo (drums). In 1996, the group, then called HWM, split up after releasing two singles, and a year later announced their reunion under the title Hot Water Music, taken from Charles Bukowski ’s short story collection Music of Hot Water , published in 1983. In 2005, after Chuck Ragan left the group to pay more attention to the family, the group took a break, and as of May 2006 the group was considered officially disbanded. Three team members formed another project - The Draft by Jason Black, George Rebelo and Chris Vollard, whose album In a Million Pieces was released on September 12, 2006. A little later, Chuck Ragan began a solo career and released several releases at No Idea Records and Side One Dummy Records and is currently working with the latter.

The sound of Hot Water Music is based on double vocals, two guitars and a hard rhythm section, which was developed by bass player Jason Black and drummer George Rebelo during their first youth jazz projects in Sarasota, Florida. In the band's early recordings, most of the songs are sung by Chuck Ragan, and Chris Wallard acts as a backing vocalist. Later, both will perform the compositions equally, and in much later recordings, Vollard’s vocals are more than Ragan, who performed backing vocals or main parts in songs of his own composition. Chuck's voice is deeper and lower, while Wollard’s is higher and more melodic, although both vocalists are vocal and can sing softer, depending on the composition.

The group reunited in 2007 [1] , gave several concerts and is currently working on a new album. A collection of Hot Water Music records on CD and vinyl was released by No Idea Records under the name Till the Wheels Fall Off [2] . According to Jason Black in an interview with the music publication Alternative Press, the release will include an unreleased track ["Home"], recorded earlier [in 2004, during the release of The New What Next ] [3] .

The band members also took part in many side projects, for example, Blacktop Cadence, Cro (w) s, Unitas and Rumbleseat, and also collaborated with many groups, for example, Alkaline Trio , The Bouncing Souls and Against Me! .
