History
Slovak Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee (1948 - 1993)
In 1948, the Slovak Broadcasting Committee ( Slovenský rozhlasový výbor ) was created, renamed in 1954 the Slovak Broadcasting and Television Committee ( Slovenský výbor pro rozhlas a televizi ), and after 2 years it launched the regional broadcast block - ČST Bratislava . In January 1990, the Slovak Broadcasting and Television Committee on channel two, instead of ČST2, launched channel S1 .
Slovak Television (1993 - 2011)
On January 1, 1993, the Slovak Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee was divided into Slovak Television and Slovak Radio. On the same day, instead of stopping retransmission in Slovakia, F1 (formerly ČST1 ) and then closed S1 , channels STV1 and STV2 were launched. In 2004, STV 1 became known as Jednotka , STV 2 - Dvojka . In 2008, the Trojka channel, a sports channel, was launched, but on June 30, 2011 it stopped working. January 1, 2011 Slovak Television and Slovak Radio are merged into Slovakia's Radio Television.
Financing
STV is co-financed from fees for television licenses, advertising, and from the state treasury.
