Biography

Born on November 10, 1948 in the city of Artyom, Primorsky Territory . In 1963-1967 he studied at the picturesque department of the Vladivostok Art School under F.N. Babanin and V.S. Chebotaryov. He graduated from college after serving in the army in 1970 . In 1970-1971 , he served as art editor of the Seaside Book Publishing House. Since 1971, he studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts , class of Professor V.N. Doronin. He graduated from the institute in 1976 .

Sergey Cherkasov has been participating in art exhibitions since 1970. Since 1983 he is a member of the Primorsky organization of the Union of artists of the RSFSR (in 1985 - 1987 - a member of the board of the Primorsky organization). Significant success was achieved as an illustrator, having been awarded the prize of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1983 for illustrating Fadeev ’s book “ The rout ”. Since 1987, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Member of the Association of Young Artists and Art Critics at the Union of Artists of the USSR. He served as chief art editor of the Primorsky Book Publishing House. Since 1986, he was a member of the jury of the "Art of the Book of the USSR" competition. Member of the Council on Culture at the Governor of Primorsky Krai.
