Geographical position
physical map of Kanchanaburi Province
The central and northwestern parts of the province are occupied by low mountains. The border with Myanmar passes along the Bilau ridge (in Myanmar it is called Tanantayi), in parallel to which the Tanantoundji ridge stretches. Between these ridges lie the valleys of the Khuen and Khwayai rivers, which, overlooking the Menama Lowland , merge in the city of Kanchanaburi, forming the Mekhlong River. In the upper reaches of the main rivers of the province, hydroelectric facilities were built, which formed the reservoirs of Khaulam and Srinagarindra.
