Phnomkulen is a national park located in the Kulen mountain range [1] ( Khmer. ភ្នំ គូ លេ ន ) in Khet (province) of Siem Reap in Cambodia . The National Park is 48 km from Siem Reap and 25 km from the Banteaysrei Temple.

In the Angkor period, this area was known as Mahendraparvata (Mount Indy Great), here Jayavarman II proclaimed himself chakravartin (king of kings), which is considered the foundation of the Khmer empire .
