History
The gun was developed by a team of designers of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (V. Shilov, S. Gulyaev, S. Neupokoev, R. G. Shigapov , I. Korobeinikov), has been mass-produced since the summer of 2002 and goes on commercial sale.
On November 11, 2002, the MP-461 was officially unveiled at the INTERPOLITEX-2002 arms exhibition and offered for export [2] .
Design
MP-461 is a barrelless dual-shot pistol with a detachable barrel unit and an electric ignition system for the cartridge capsule. Almost all the main parts of the MP-461 - the case, cartridge cartridge, trigger - are made of plastic, this solution allowed to reduce the weight of the weapon.
The cartridge cartridge rotates on an axis located in the lower front of the housing.
A standard CR2032 battery is used as a power source. To check the status of the battery, use the indicator located on the gun’s body on the left side (if the battery is charged, the red diode lights up when the button is pressed; if the battery is discharged or absent, the diode does not light up).
The weapon is fused. The fuse has the form of a transverse button built into the trigger of the gun. The fuse is turned on by pressing the button from left to right, off by pressing from right to left.
Sights are placed on the upper surface of the cartridge cartridge - the rear sight with the front sight.
Since 2007, the MP-461 version has been produced with an integrated laser designator located in front of the trigger guard. The designator is equipped with a three-color LED - as the battery life is spent, the color of the LED changes in the following sequence: green - yellow - red. Green indicates a full charge, yellow - indicates that the battery is running low, red indicates a mandatory change of batteries [3] .
According to the tactical and technical characteristics, the closest analogue of the MP-461 is the PB-2 Aegis barrelless pistol (a double-barreled version of the PBA -4 OSA barrelless pistol).
Ammunition
When firing, special cartridges of 18 × 45 mm non-lethal action are used with traumatic, signal, lighting or light-noise charge, equipped with an electrocapsule .
