Sports Biography
Milan Gaborak made his debut in major international competitions in 1992 , when he took part in the Czechoslovak national team at the Junior World Championships in Seoul and took 4th place there.
At the adult level, Gaborak first appeared at the 1997 World Championships in Athens . Milan showed not the highest result of 17.85 m. And he failed to overcome the qualification of the competition. The result was only 16th place. After 2 years at the World Championships in Seville, Gaborak improved his result by half a meter, but failed to get into the final again.
In 2000, a Slovak athlete took part in the Summer Olympics in Sydney . In qualifying Gaborak managed to show the result of 20.00 m and take 6th place. But in the final, Milan failed to realize its potential. The first two attempts were not counted, and in the third, he threw the core only at 19.06 m and took 11th place.
In 2001, Gaborak won the bronze medal at the Summer Universiade in Beijing . To do this, he had the result of 19.90 m. A year later, Milan won another bronze medal. At the world final of the IAAF Grand Prix, Gaborak showed a result of 20.40 meters and managed to become the third.
After the expiration of the disqualification Gaborak attempted to return to the previous level. In Osaka in the championship of 2007, Slovak became the eighth with a score of 19.55 m.
Gaborak showed a very weak result at the Beijing Olympics . Of the three attempts, only one was successful, but the result in it was only 19.32 m. This result allowed Gaborak to take only 30th place in the qualification.
Doping
In 2004, Milan Gaborak was first convicted of doping. In his analyzes, which he passed during the athletics finals in Madrid, illegal drugs were found. The athlete was forced to miss the Athens Olympics. [1] Subsequently, he was disqualified for 2 years.
In 2010, Milan Gaborak was again convicted of using prohibited drugs. The sample taken from Gaborak on out-of-competition control showed a positive result for the steroid stanozolol . The Slovak Anti-Doping Agency decided to permanently remove the athlete from participating in competitions. [2]
