Geographical position
The village of Gnarovskoye is located on the banks of a small rivulet, a tributary of the Volnyanka River, the village of Novotroitskoye adjoins upstream, and the village of Georgievskoye is located 3 km downstream. Nearby is the highway M-18 ( E 105 ).
History
1926 - Date of foundation as the village of Verbovoe .
On September 23, 1943, in the battles near the Ivanenkovo state farm (Verbovoye village), the sanitary instructor of the 907th Rifle Regiment of the 244th Rifle Division, Private Valeria Gnarovskaya pulled out the wounded and delivered them to the dressing station. At this time, in the direction of the dressing station, two German Tiger heavy tanks broke through. Rescuing the wounded, Valeria Gnarovskaya with a bunch of grenades threw herself under one of them and blew him up, the second was hit by the ripe Red Army soldiers. For courage and heroism, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on June 2, 1944, Valeria Gnarovskaya was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union [2] .
In 1945 it was renamed the village of Gnarovskoye in honor of the Gnarovskaya Valeria Osipovna .
