History

The Union of Writers of Abkhazia was founded in September 1933 [1] .

In 2004, during the presidential elections in the Republic of Abkhazia , on the wave of political differences, about half of the members left the Union and formed the Writers' Association of the Republic of Abkhazia (headed by the people's poet of Abkhazia Mushni Lasuria ) [2] .

On January 1, 2009, the Union united 45 members [3] . Since 2003, a new type of certificate has been valid in the Writers' Union.

On June 10, 2013, a presentation of the new newspaper of the Writers' Union of the Republic of Abkhazia “Aamta” (Time) [4] was held .
