Kalia ( Beng. কালিয়া , English Kalia ) is a city and municipality in the south-west of Bangladesh , the administrative center of the sub-district of the same name . The area of the city is 30.91 km². According to the 2001 census, 17 694 people lived in the city, of which 50.42% were men, 49.58% respectively women. The population density was 572 people. on 1 km². The literacy rate was 32% (compared to Bangladeshan average of 43.1%).
