Biography
She was born and raised on the west coast of Sweden - in the town of Sevedalen, near Gothenburg . She studied in the school of journalism, then studied literature and sociology at the University of Gothenburg . After graduation she worked in newspapers, preparing various materials for radio and television. During her studies, Marie worked as a volunteer in a psychiatric clinic.
In 1986, Marie made her debut with a collection of short stories “Hole in the Universe”, which critics described as “fairy tales for adults”. Her works can be traced to the work of Edgar Allan Poe and the gothic novel , but, on the other hand, there are features of fantasy and science fiction . For the novels Hermanson is characterized by the interpenetration of reality, myth and fairy tales.
Now Maria Hermanson lives in Gothenburg with her husband and two children.
