Gaffargaon ( Beng. গফরগাঁও , Eng. Gaffargaon ) is a city in the north of Bangladesh , the administrative center of the sub-district of the same name . The area of the city is 12.21 km². According to the 2001 census, 20,284 people lived in the city, of which 51.29% were men and 48.71% were women, respectively. The literacy rate of the population was 37.9% (compared to Bangladeshan average of 43.1%).
