Ottawa Station

Ottawa Station Ottawa Station ( IATA code: XDS) - Ottawa train station at 200 Tremblay Road. The station receives Via Rail intercity trains running west to Toronto and east to Montreal , as well as Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) . It also accepts buses from some airlines.

At the station there is a bus transit terminal Train station , from which buses go to the city center and to the eastern suburbs ( Orleans ). [one]

The station in a modernist style was designed by John B. Parkin . It was built in 1966 and won the Masset Medal in the architectural nomination for 1967. In 2000, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada included the station among the 500 most important buildings in Canada. [2]

Previously, the station was located in the city center, on the site of the modern government conference center at the Rideau Canal near Confederation Square . Later, the railway tracks were dismantled, and in their place laid Colonel Bay Drive ( en: Colonel By Drive ), on both sides of which there is a green zone.
