Biography
Marguerite De La Motte was born on June 22, 1902 in Duluth ( Minnesota , USA ). In 1918 , when Marguerite was 16 years old, her parents died in a car accident . She and her younger brother were taken into custody by the producer J. L. Frotingham, who died 7 years after taking custody of the children [1] . In early youth, Marguerite studied ballet under the direction of Anna Pavlova .
Marguerite began acting in films in 1918, her film debut was the role of Lena from the movie " Arizona ." De La Motte was unable to work with the advent of sound cinema and ended her career as an actress in 1942, having played 62 roles by then.
In 1924, Marguerite married actor John Bowers . Their marriage lasted for 12 years and ended on November 17, 1936 with the death of Bowers, a 50-year-old actor drowned [2] . Later Marguerite married a second time, Sidney H. Rivkin became her chosen one, they divorced after 4 years of marriage. Marguerite had no children. She was a close friend of actress Barbara la Marr , who died of tuberculosis on January 30, 1926 .
47-year-old Marguerite died on March 10, 1950 from cerebral thrombosis in San Francisco ( California , USA ).
For her contribution to the film industry, Marguerite was awarded the Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Hollywood Boulevard 6902 [3] .
