Bhairab or Bhairab Bazar [2] ( Beng. ভৈরব , English Bhairab ) is a city and municipality in the east of Bangladesh , the administrative center of the eponymous sub-district . Located on the banks of the Meghna River. The municipality was founded in 1958 . The area of the city is 15.31 km². According to the 2001 census, 91,913 people lived in the city, of which 51.92% were men and 48.08% were women, respectively. The literacy rate was 39.7% (compared to Bangladeshan average of 43.1%).
