" Potential Breakup Song " is an electro-pop song written by American teenage pop group Aly & AJ and is the first single from their second studio album, Insomniatic . It was a very successful single in the summer and early fall of 2007, led by many videos, the single Aly & AJ becomes the most successful single to date. At the same time, it was Hollywood Records' best-selling single. This single received platinum from the RIAA and the single sold more than 1,000,000 copies.

Content
Song Information
There are two versions of this song that are on the radio. One of them is the official version of the album, which plays on the main radio, while the version with all the violence and sexual themes is removed on Radio Disney. In the chorus, “Gettin'me , the edited version adds a“ to ”between“ gettin '”and“ me. ”In the middle of“ without me you're gonna die, ”“ die ”is replaced by“ cry. ”This song is their first single electro-dance music genre.
Most of the tunes are modeled after Del Shannon’s song “Runaway”.
Single Release
The single, released on Radio Disney on May 12, 2007, was different from the original than the official version of the single. The song became available for sale in the US iTunes June 26, 2007, along with pre-order offered the third studio album Insomniatic .
The single was released digitally in the UK on October 1, 2007, following the physical single release on October 8. The album comes out in two weeks - October 22. The song was the second UK song (single) of the group when it was released in October, after their UK debut single, "Chemicals React", missed the charts in the UK in May 2007. In addition, the bonus track for Wal-Mart USA’s collectible Careful With Words edition appears as the A-side and B-side single in the United Kingdom.
In the UK, the single disappeared from stores, as a result of which it will only be available digitally.

Music video
The clip, directed by Chris Appelbaum, was shot on May 17, 2007, and premiered on Total Request Live on June 18, 2007. He debuted at number ten on TRL on August 21, 2007, and peak at number 6 on August 29, 2007. On July 18, 2007, the single clip reached number one on the Top 10 Video Countdown AOL Music.
The video shows Amanda Michalka and her older sister Alison Michalka. They sing a Potential Break Up Song on a gray background, the girls themselves are dressed in black. At the end of the video, black ink, floating spots of clean paper in the air are formed into the new logo of the group, as well as the sequence of letters Hugs and Kisses. It also includes the web address of PotentialBreakup.com.
In the Disney Channel version, Radio Disney songs use different words. The version also does not include web addresses at the end. The clip is sometimes shown on Nickelodeon in Asia.
As of March 10, 2010, 33,417,707 people have watched the clip claiming it is Hollywood Records. The music video was watched by people of all nations and countries. Charts
"Potential Breakup Song" debuted at number 77 in the United States in the hit chart "Billboard Hot 100" on July 5, 2007. The song performed at number 17, becoming the group's best single on Hot 100. As the song began to fall down the chart, dropping to number 50 about a month after its peak, the song returned to normal by 41, Aly and AJ became one of the organizers of MTV's TRL for one week. As of March 2009, the song has statistics for over 1,000 digital downloads in the US, which allows it to be certified platinum from RIAA .
In the United Kingdom, the single was released for download on October 1, 2007 and debuted at number 33 on the UK Singles Chart. Following the release of the physical CD, the song later performed at number 22 in the UK.

"Potential Breakup Song" (single Aly & AJ) was sung by Japanese singer Amy Suzuki under the label Avex Trax. It was released on November 28, 2007.
The song was used in the Japanese horror film X-Cross , in which Suzuki plays a major role, along with the original version of Aly & AJ. The single produced by Japanese DJ Sugiurumn has a stronger club than the Aly & AJ version.
In June 2008, it was announced that this single would be the last for Suzuki.
