History
First mentioned in written sources in 1314. In 1324, the presence of a fortress in Lipova is mentioned.
Geography
Located 34 km east of the city of Arad , on both banks of the River Mures .
Population
The population according to 2011 is 9648 people. According to the 2002 census, it numbered 11,236 people. The ethnic composition at that time was represented by Romanians (92.10%), Hungarians (4.36%), Germans (1.90%), Gypsies (1.00%), Slovaks (0.16%) and other peoples. 93.35% of the population considered Romanian as their mother tongue; 3.74% - Hungarian and 0.82% - Gypsy . Orthodox made up 78.02% of the Lipova population; Pentecostals - 9.04%; Catholics - 8.14% [3] .
