Geography
It is located 49 km northeast of the city of Arad , on the Krishul-Alb river , at an altitude of 115 m above sea level. Bucharest , the capital of the country, is 399 km away.
History
First mentioned in written sources in 1214 under the name Ieneu . One of the main attractions of the city is the 17th century fortress of the same name.

Population
According to the 2011 census, the population of the city is 9078 people. The ethnic composition is represented by Romanians (86.49%), Hungarians (6.57%), Gypsies (5.78%) and other peoples [1] . According to the last census of 2002, the population of Ineu totaled 10,207 people [2] .
