Pyotr Nikolayevich Surkov (07/24/1915 - 01/12/1944) - Soviet officer, participant in the Great Patriotic War , deputy political political commander of the 2nd battalion of the 212th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 75th Guards Rifle Division of the 30th Rifle Corps of the 60th Army Central Front , Guard Senior Lieutenant , Hero of the Soviet Union (1943) [1] .

Biography
Born on July 24, 1915 in the village of Ermakovskoye now in the Krasnoyarsk Territory . He graduated from ten years, worked as a teacher in the village Razezhee Krasnoyarsk Territory . He served in the Red Army in the years 1937-1940. With the outbreak of war he was drafted into the army. He graduated from the regimental school and political courses in 1942, the military-political school in 1943.
Guard Senior Lieutenant Surkov P.N. was especially distinguished when crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev , in battles when capturing and holding a bridgehead in the area of the villages of Glebovka and Yasnogorodka ( Vyshgorod district of Kiev region ) on the right bank of the Dnieper in the autumn of 1943. In the presentation for the award, the commander of the 212th Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, Colonel M. Borisov wrote [2] :
Comrade Surkov is a courageous, proactive and resourceful political worker in battle. During the crossing of the Dnieper River 09/24/1943 [3] showed all his skill and commanding inventiveness. Together with the first landing group, he crossed the Dnieper River, where he met an enemy steamboat with a barge in tow, under heavy machine-gun and mortar fire fired from the steamboat, Comrade Surkov led the landing party to capture the steamboat, as a result of decisive and skillful actions, the Nikolaev ship, as well as a barge loaded with engineering property, were captured in good repair along with two prisoners from the ship’s crew.
Crossing to the right bank of the Dnieper, Comrade Surkov, together with his detachment, provided a crossing for the entire regiment.
Throughout September, participated in heavy battles for the retention and expansion of the bridgehead.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for successfully crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, firmly securing the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River and showing courage and heroism of the guard, Senior Lieutenant Surkov Pyotr Nikolaevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and a medal The Golden Star [4] .
He died on January 12, 1944 in the battles for the liberation of the city of Kalinkovichi in the Gomel region. He was buried in Kalinkovichi in the fraternal cemetery of Soviet soldiers and partisans.

- In the homeland of the Hero in the village of Ermakovsky, Ermakovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory , the street is named after him.
- On the school building in the village of Razezhenskoye, Krasnoyarsk Territory , where he worked as a teacher, a memorial plaque was installed.
- A street in the city of Kalinkovichi in the Gomel region of Belarus is named after P.N. Surkov.
