Alms-Giving is the conventional name given to a poem in Old English, preserved in the Exeter book (fol. 121b - 122a). The poem is a variation on a theme from the biblical text of the Book of Wisdom : “Water will extinguish the flame of fire and alms will cleanse sins” (chapter 3).
