The village is located 7 km east of Kalach-on-Don and 70 km west of Volgograd . It is located on the banks of the Volga-Don Canal , which, coupled with the Belomorkanal and the Volga-Baltic waterways, made it possible to connect the five seas - the White , Black , Caspian , Azov and Baltic - by the shortest shipping route - hence the name Pyatimorsk.

History

The village of Pyatimorsk was founded as a village of exploiters of the Karpovsky hydroelectric complex of the Volga-Don canal [2] .

The settlement was registered by the decision of the Stalingrad Regional Executive Committee of May 7, 1953 No. 16/1021 with the assignment of the name Pyatimorsky to the village of the Don construction region. The village belonged to the Ilyevsky rural council, since 2005 - to the Ilyevsky rural settlement [3] .

In the village is the administration of the Don district of hydraulic structures [2] .

Attractions

  • Monument to Lenin in the central square of the village.
  • Sculptural group " Connection of the fronts ." The author is E.V. Vuchetich , established in 1953-1955. The monument is dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War - the uniting of troops of the South-Western and Stalingrad fronts in the area of ​​the Sovetsky farm (now flooded by the Karpovsky reservoir ) November 23, 1942 [5]
