Kuzminskoe cemetery (Moscow)

It got its name from the village of Kuzminki, granted at the beginning of the 18th century. Peter I to his friend and assistant Grigory Stroganov . Here the new owner built a manor in which a separate house was allocated for the arrival of the sovereign.

After the death of G. D. Stroganov in 1715, his widow began construction of a wooden church of the Vlacherna Icon of the Mother of God (Akademika Skriabin St., 1). The temple was consecrated in 1720. Then Kuzminki received another name - Vlakhernskoe. And in 1753 the estate as a dowry of the bride passed into the possession of the Golitsyn princes. From that time until 1917 it belonged to them.

In 1759-1762, instead of a burnt wooden church, a new stone church was erected by the architect I.P. Zherebtsov , in 1794-1798 it was rebuilt by architect R. R. Kazakov . The church was designed in the style of classicism and decorated with a round light drum with a cupola - a belvedere and Tuscan porticoes . Such it has survived to the present day.

Initially, the cemetery was located on the territory of the Kuzminsky forest park . ^[1] The remains of some monuments there can be found to this day. In the 1960s, the old cemetery was removed from the park, most of the graves from which were transferred to the territory of the modern cemetery.

The cemetery was founded in 1956 and consists of two parts: Central and Muslim. Directions - from the metro station "Ryazansky Prospekt" , bus. No. 29 to the stop " St. Academician Scriabin "; from the metro station "Kuzminki" , aut. No. 159. ^[2]
