Biography
Born February 19, 1965 in Gagra, in the Abkhaz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in an Abkhaz family.
In 1982, he graduated from Gagra Secondary School No. 5, and in 1987, Kharkov Transport College. From 1984 to 1986 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1996 he graduated from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus .
From 1986 to August 2010, he served in the internal affairs bodies of Abkhazia in various positions, starting from the rank and file of senior officers to senior officers, including the acting head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the city of Sukhum . In January 2008, the special rank of Major General of the Police was awarded.
On February 28, 2005, by the decree of the President of Abkhazia, Bagapsh was appointed Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Abkhazia. [one]
During his leadership, the republic’s Ministry of Internal Affairs was constantly criticized in society for a number of high-profile killings, for a series of assassination attempts against Alexander Ankvab , which were never solved. [2]
