Barkal ( Beng. বরকল , Eng. Barkal ) is a city in the southeast of Bangladesh , the administrative center of the sub-district of the same name . The area of the city is 12.95 km². According to the 2001 census, 1709 people lived in the city, of which 73.72% were men, 26.28% respectively women. The population density was 132 people. on 1 km². The literacy rate of the population was 65.6% (with an average of Bangladesh of 43.1%).
