Loiri, Vesa-Matti

Vesa-Matti began his film career in 1962 when he played one of the main roles in the film “ Pojat ” ( Russian Guys ). In total, the actor starred in more than 30 films, six of them (in which Loiri starred in the lead role) entered the TOP-20 Best Domestic Films in Finland.

As a musician, Loiri performed for a long time with Perttu Hietanen's songs. On top of that, he played the flute well , and in 1980 he was invited to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the song “Huilumies” ( Russian Flute player ). Unfortunately for the performer, the competitive composition performed by him, gaining only six points, took the nineteenth (last) place. Despite this, his music still enjoys great popularity: they sold about a million copies of their debut album, for which he also received several prestigious awards.

Vesa-Matti Loiri also enjoys sports (especially billiards ), and for several years even had the position of chairman of the Finnish Billiard-pool Association.
