Biography

In 1942-1945 - a participant in the Great Patriotic War . After demobilization, he entered the Department of Classical Philology of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute , which he graduated in 1950; among the teachers of Rudnev was A.F. Losev . He taught literature at secondary school number 8 of the city of Kolomna .

In 1958-1968 - Associate Professor of Literature at the Kolomna Pedagogical Institute . At the same time since 1966 he participated in the work of the poetry group of the Institute of World Literature. A. M. Gorky . He prepared the dissertation "On the verse of the Block ( Polymetric compositions. Meter and meaning)", the defense of which failed in 1968: the Academic Council at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. Lenin recognized the work as formalistic.

Following this, at the invitation of Yu. M. Lotman, I went to work at the University of Tartu , where he continued his studies in poetry in general and the study of Alexander Blok’s verse in particular, defending a thesis of the candidate of philological sciences Metrica A. Blok a year later. The Tartu period includes the most important works of Rudnev - in particular, the article “From the History of the Metric Repertoire of Russian Poets of the 19th – Early 20th Centuries (Pushkin, Lermontov, Nekrasov, Fet, Blok, Bryusov)” (in the collection “Theory of Poet”, 1968), “ On the verse of Blok’s drama “The Rose and the Cross” ”(in Scientific Notes of the University of Tartu, 1970),“ From Observations of A. Blok’s Poems ”(in the journal Slavonic Poetics, 1973). In Tartu, Rudnev studied, in particular, Mikhail Lotman and Sergey Shakhverdov.

it was in these years ... with the greatest fullness revealed the creative gift of a scientist and his very exceptional pedagogical abilities

- E. M. Meletinsky [1]

In 1972, Rudnev for personal reasons moved to Sterlitamak .

Since 1973, in Petrozavodsk , where he taught at the Karelian State Pedagogical Institute until the end of his life, he also lectured at Petrozavodsk State University .

His lectures were distinguished by solidity, depth of understanding of the material, very peculiar, purely "Rudnevsky" artistry.

- from the obituary of Petrozavodsk University [2]

In 1986 , a collection of poems by Athanasius Fet with a foreword by Rudnev was published; in 1989, Rudnev’s textbook, Introduction to the Science of Russian Poem, was published in Tartu.
