Open Encyclopedia Project ( OEP , Open Encyclopedia (OEP) ), also known as Open-Site, is an open Internet encyclopedia project created in 2002 by Michael Flicking , who wanted to implement a free, open and categorized encyclopedia edited by volunteers. The author was inspired by the ideas and success of the Open Directory Project , and as a result, you can find a lot in common between these projects. The encyclopedia uses open source software distributed under the Mozilla Public License .

The section in Russian in the Open Encyclopedia took 9th place among the largest language sections.
In 2012, the project was closed and now is a list of colleges and universities. .
