Cal Look is a car tuning trend that originated in California in the late 1960s . Fans of this style believe that Cal Look can only be called a modified (in the tradition of style) Volkswagen air-cooled car .

In the southern states of the United States (particularly in California), owners of Volkswagens with air-cooled engines began to stylize their cars under the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) drag racing championship cars, while trying to improve their dynamic performance.
New Directions
While some were building their race cars, one of the parties [ style ] lowriders drew attention to the "Volkswagen" with their classic lines of the body. Original bodies and salons, low suspension - the lower the better [ neutrality? ] , many accessories from that period. The movement was called Resto cal . Guys [ style ] from Cal-look party [ style ] considered such projects low-cost and not worthy of respect, it is known [to whom? ] many stories of open confrontation. There was an opinion about the criminality of Resto-cal parties [ style ] that made it, to some extent, underground. But over time, Resto cal gained recognition [ who? ] , along with such phenomena as rap music, graffiti and other attributes of urban life.
