Biography

Nancy Wilson was born in San Francisco. Together with her two older sisters, Lynn and Anne grew up traveling frequently in Southern California and Taiwan before their father, who served in the U.S. Navy , resigned and settled with her family in Bellevue , a satellite city of Seattle .

Nancy graduated from high school, then entered the University of Pacific, located in Oregon , and at the Cornwall College of Art in Seattle, where she focused on the study of art and German literature. [1] [2] Until 1974, she gave solo performances until she left college and went to Canada to join her sister's band Heart. She and Heart guitarist Roger Fisher, brother of Ann's boyfriend and band manager Mike Fisher, lived together for a while. [1] [2]

While Ann is the main vocalist on most Heart songs, Nancy performs the main vocals on such iconic songs as “Treat Me Well”, “These Dreams”, “Stranded”, “There's the Girl” and “Will You Be There (In the Morning) ”and often performs backing vocals. Nancy is also the rhythm and lead guitarist of the group. In 1999, she released a solo live album, Live at McCabe's Guitar Shop . She also released the album Baby Guitars; and a mini album that helps kids fall asleep quickly.

On July 27, 1986, Nancy married American director and former Rolling Stone journalist Cameron Crowe , from whom she gave birth to two sons William James Crowe and Curtis Wilson Crowe, born January 23, 2000. [3] On September 23, 2010, she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable disagreements with her spouse. [4] The divorce ended on December 8, 2010. [5]

Nancy has been the composer of music for most of Crowe's films, including Jerry Maguire , Almost Famous , Vanilla Sky , and Elizabethtown . She played a cameo in Crowe’s film “Wild Life” (1984) as David’s wife and in the film “ Quick Changes at the Ridgemont High School ” (1982), scripted by Crowe, in the credits she is marked as “a beautiful girl in Corvette .” In 1989, Wilson wrote the song "All for Love" for his film, Say Something .

In 2010, Nancy and Ann performed part of the song “ We Are the World 25 for Haiti ”, recorded by various pop singers to help Haitians who suffered after a major earthquake earlier this year. The song is a remake of the 1985 hit single “ We Are the World ”, written for a charity project whose proceeds in the amount of $ 61.800.000 were used to purchase and deliver medicines, food, and medical and humanitarian assistance to the starving in Ethiopia .

Later, in 2010, the Wilson sisters became part of the Moms Who Rock campaign of the Pandora Radio recommendation system , available only in the United States.
