Traditionally, Tamazight dialects are considered one language, but significant differences between its main three groups of dialects allow us to consider Tamazight language range as three independent languages:
- Middle Atlas Tamazight ;
- East High Atlas Tamazigh ;
- Demnatsky .
Tamazight language is recognized in Morocco as one of the official languages and is used in government records management.
Previously, the Arabic alphabet was used for writing. The most common is the Latin alphabet . In the 1970s, attempts were made to adapt the ancient Livonian script used in the related Tuareg languages ; now typhinagus is the official written form of Tamazight languages.
