Tamazight languages

Tamazight languages (self-name - Taqbaylit , Tamaziɣt or Tamazight , ⵜⴰⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖⵜ ( tæmæˈzɪɣt , θæmæˈzɪɣθ )) - Tamazight languages, belong to the group of Atlas languages , distributed in the central and northern regions of Morocco . Native speakers of tamazight languages ​​around the world are about 5 million people (outside of Morocco, mainly in France ). As a rule, these people are multilingual, also owning Arabic .

Traditionally, Tamazight dialects are considered one language, but significant differences between its main three groups of dialects allow us to consider Tamazight language range as three independent languages:

Tamazight languages

Previously, the Arabic alphabet was used for writing. The most common is the Latin alphabet . In the 1970s, attempts were made to adapt the ancient Livonian script used in the related Tuareg languages ; now typhinagus is the official written form of Tamazight languages.
