Release
After the track became available for download as a soundtrack to the game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock , a version of the song with poor quality appeared on the Internet. AFI released a one and a half minute preview for their fan club, The Despair Faction, and after a while posted it on their MySpace page .
On November 30, 2007, it was announced on the band’s official website that the whole song would be available for download on December 4.
The song is also featured on the Japanese edition of Crash Love's eighth studio album and on the first album of the British single, Medicate .
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bonus
Interscope has announced the release of an exclusive Xbox 360 three-song package, including Carcingon Crush , available for download on Xbox Live along with the acquisition of the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock soundtrack. The code, which can be activated only once, facilitated the loading of this content by customers.
The song package was re-released in August as the Companion Track Pack on Xbox Live and as the Eyeliner Pack on the Playstation 3 store.
Canceled Mini Album
The group confirmed that in December 2007 a mini-album will be released, which will include Carcinogen Crush . Nevertheless, the premiere was postponed to the spring of 2008, and later to June 24. A tracklist was published on an unofficial site, which forced the group to rename the tracks and swap them. Soon, for her own reasons, she left the release date uncertain.
In 2009, AFI announced that a new mini-album would be released after Crash Love 's eighth studio album, and was eventually canceled completely. Here are some of the songs that were supposed to be on the mini-album: “Carcinogen Crush”, “Ether”, “Fainting Spells” and “100 Words”, which have already been released, as well as “The View From Here”, which remains unreleased.
