Biography
As a child, he tried to visit the Pochaev Lavra as often as possible, to attend church services. During the school years he served at the altar, first worked in the icon workshop, then in the sewing workshop. He was acquainted with the Monk Amphilochius Pochaevsky . He was expelled from school for attending the temple and forced to abandon religious interests.
After graduating from high school, in 1958, he entered the Leningrad Theological Seminary , which he graduated in 1962. From 1962 to 1966 he studied at the Leningrad Theological Academy , from which he graduated with a degree of candidate of theology for his work “The Teachings of St. Athanasius the Great about Man.”
On January 2, 1966, Metropolitan Nicodemus (Rotov) of Leningrad and Ladoga was tonsured a monk with the name Victor , in honor of the martyr Victor of Corinth . On January 6, Archbishop Alexis of Tula and Belevsky (Konoplev) was ordained a hierodeacon , and on October 22, 1967 - in a hieromonk .
Since 1968 - the foreman of the Catherine Cathedral in the city of Krasnodar .
From 1968 to 1970 - a member of the diocesan council of the Krasnodar diocese.
In 1969 he was elevated to the rank of abbot . In 1974 he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite .
Since 1978 - the foreman of the White Trinity Cathedral in the city of Kalinin . In March 1982, he was appointed rector of this cathedral and secretary of the Kalinin diocesan administration.
In 1979-1988, he served as the Dean of the Kalinin District.
Bishops
On November 30, 1988, by decree of the Holy Synod, he was determined to be bishop of Kalininsky and Kashinsky [1] .
On December 3, 1988, the Epiphany Cathedral was ordained, and on December 4 there was a bishop consecration performed by: Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassky Vladimir (Sabodan) , Metropolitan of Chisinau and Moldavian Serapion (Fadeev) , Archbishop of Orenburg and Buzuluk (Leonid) Archbishop of Sverdlovsk and Kurgan Melchizedek (Lebedev) , Archbishop of Yaroslavl and Rostov Plato (Udovenko) , Archbishop of Kostroma and Galich Job (Tyvonyuk) , Archbishop of Kursk and Belgorod Juvenal (Tarasov) , Archbishop cop Vinnitsa and Broclaw Agafangel (Savvin) , Bishop of Vladimir and Suzdal Valentin (Mishchuk) , Bishop of Penza and Saransk Seraphim (Tikhonov) [1] .
Since July 19, 1990, in connection with the return of Tver to its historical name, it has been titled Tver and Kashinsky .
In 1990, he was elected to the Tver Regional Council of People's Deputies.
February 25, 1996 was elevated to the rank of archbishop .
On June 23, 2010, Archbishop Victor was awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of Tver” [2] .
On December 28, 2011, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was appointed head of the Tver Metropolis [3] , and therefore, on January 8, 2012, Patriarch Kirill was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan in the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin [4] .
By the decision of the Holy Synod of March 16, 2012, he was confirmed as rector (holy archimandrite) of the Nilo-Stolobensky desert [5] and the Staritsky Assumption Monastery [6] .
On July 14, 2018, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was fired at rest with the expression of “heartfelt gratitude” for “the many years of archpastoral care for the Tver diocese, which is marked by a multiple increase in parishes and clergy, tireless care for monasteries, the establishment of a friendly and constructive dialogue with local authorities and public associations, and also for his labors as head of the Tver Metropolis. ” As a place of rest, he was determined the city of Tver with material content from the Tver diocesan administration [7] .
